posted 22 Feb 2014, 13:03 by Fiona Sampson

Whitegate Hurling Club hosted a victory social in the Mountshannon Hotel on Saturday 25th January. This night of celebration was to mark our return to the top flight of hurling in the county following the Intermediate Championship success and also to present medals to the under 21 side who captured the first piece of silverware for the club in 2013.

Guest of Honour on the night was Clare’s own Ger Loughnane. Ger took the podium and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered for the presentation of medals. He stressed the importance of moving forward for the coming year with the primary goal for the senior team to maintain this status for the season. The team managers David Considine and Terence Fahy introduced the teams and gave a brief insight in to each player. Presentations were also made by the team captains Brendan Bugler and Michael Dooley to the management teams that had guided them to victory.

Entertainment on the night was provided by Sean and John Hogan, with DJ Tubs ensuring the crowd were kept on there toes.

Thanks are extended to all those that came and ensured the success of the night. A big thanks also to Pauline, John, Dara and staff of the Mountshannon Hotel for their help and attention to detail.
